When I was a little girl, my best friend was the girl down the street, as in… 2 houses over. She was 3 years older than me, and gracefully allowed me to follow her around and idolize her. Hey, it’s what little kids do, right? As things naturally happen, we grew apart once the age difference became apparent. She was experimenting with makeup, and I didn’t understand why she didn’t want to play Princesses in the backyard anymore. Believe me, my love of makeup was soon to come.
Life moves on, and we both did. However, there is some sort of beautiful camaraderie with being childhood friends. We still gave family Christmas presents. Still were updated on each other’s lives via our parents. I still stopped by her parents little booth at the fair and bought their FAMOUS suckers. (Oh, we still dream about those). And I used to sneak pieces of my Dad’s fudge that my friend’s mom always made for him for Christmas (and I STILL dream about that TOO!)
We both grew up, and thankfully, reconnected through Facebook. One day, she got engaged to the love of her life, and when she asked me to do her hair and makeup for her wedding, I was over joyed. It was full circle for us. I had the honor of working on her for her wedding day, and she was truly gorgeous. She has an awesome blog full of fantastic garden tips, home tips, AMAZING cooking tips (I’m still DYING to try her breakfast burrito recipe). She also wrote about her experience through her wedding, including working with me here.
Her Blog is Called Simply Eclectic, and you should absolutely check it out and show her lots of love.
Congrats Hilary, and thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to grow up with you as my childhood friend, to follow you around, and thank you for gracefully being my role model all those years. Congratulations to you and your husband. I have no doubt in my mind that you have found the love of your life. Much happiness to you, my dear.
Have a beautiful day.
